Video Enabled Health & Care

NHS Scotland has an extensive and well developed video conferencing service (VC service) that supports around 20k hours of video traffic per quarter.  By avoiding travel to meetings, it is estimated that this saves around £5 million per annum in travel costs and staff time.

The SCTT:

  • Funded by the TEC programme, manage a programme of work to develop and deploy video technologies to facilitate the development of VC mediated services across Health and Care.
  • Provides support to TEC partners developing new services
  • Helps develop the ongoing technical strategy for VC technology.
  • Provides programme management support to the National VC Team

The team are currently working in three key areas.

  • Supporting the development of video consulting clinics using the Attend Anywhere platform.  This allow a person to attend a video clinic from their own home, using their own device.
  • Using modern, low cost devices, extending the VC service into care homes.
  • By integrating video communication across the health and care sectors, enabling improved communication.
