Analogue to Digital Telecare

The Technology Enabled Care (TEC) Programme has been exploring the scope of benefits of switching the current Telecare provision from a analogue based system via traditional telephony connections, to a digital service. TEC commissioned IT and Telecom Consultants Farrpoint Ltd to undertake scoping work and the output is published in the two reports below.

TEC distributed the reports to Local Authority Chief Executives in August 2016 and  invited comments. It held a series of workshops with senior local government representatives and industry and housing providers. As a result of this feedback, it was decided that detailed planning for full deployment and a full implementation of Digital Telecare should be completed.

A Landscape Review was undertaken to learn from other partners internationally who’d  made the transition from Analogue to Digital to inform and shape Scotland’s approach. This Digital Telecare Roadmap draws together learning from all these activities and details how Scotland will make this transition.

The Steering Group, Chaired by Martyn Wallace, CEO Local Government Digital Office with representation from COSLA,  Improvement Service, Scottish Government and SCTT is overseeing and coordinating this activity, due to commence in April 2017.
