Deloittes Report – Feasibility Report on Expanding Access to Telecare
Telecare Feasibility Study Report
In 2016, the Scottish Government and COSLA commissioned Deloitte to carry out a feasibility study to determine the merit in extending access to telecare, with a particular focus on people over 75 and those with dementia.
There was already substantial evidence as to the benefits of telecare for individuals, and this report brings to the fore the value for money that telecare offers local systems, representing an overall benefit to cost ratio of almost 2:1 over a 3 year period – Deloitte estimate that IJBs spend around £39 million per annum, generating benefit of around £99 million per annum. Current coverage for people over 75 is around 20% of the population, however Deloitte estimate that around 33% of all over 75s could potentially benefit from telecare.
